MAP Program

Both The Escondido Union School District and The Escondido Union High School District rigorously promote the program. Each spring 8th grade students and their parents participate in a MAP information night and are encouraged to sign up for the program. The important and potential benefits of MAP is included in special presentations at each site's Back to School Night, to AVID classes, and regularly included in communications to students and parents.

Counselors, too, play a key role in encouraging students to join the MAP program. They also serve in the monitoring process to be sure students: Maintain an Academic Focus Attend School Daily, and Participate in school and community activities

The Escondido business community, through its business voice, the Chamber, continues to be the link to the parents. As Chamber Education Committee co-chair Brian Murphy says, "Talking to parents through employers is an innovative way to reach people. This is a huge step in our continuing community involvement. The business community is the information conduit and the MAP program is our way of connecting business owners with academic excellence."

For information on how you and your firm can make dreams real for the many worthy students now enrolled in the MAP Program, call EUHSD superintendent Ed Nelson (760-291-3201) or American Furniture Design's Brian Murphy (760-743-6923). They are the Chamber's Education Committee co-chairs.
